As part of the format of The Face, each contestant has their own Supermodel mentor, who will guide them throughout the competition. Additionally, the Supermodel who wins the weekly campaign owns the sole decision to eliminate one of the nominated girls that week.
The first Season of The Face featured the first black model to appear on the cover of French Vogue, Naomi Campbell, Victoria's Secret legend, Karolina Kurkova and the 'it' girl of 2012, Coco Rocha. During the show, Team Naomi and Team Karolina both won 3 campaigns, while Team Coco won none. Karolina Kurkova won the first season with Devyn Abdullah.
For Season 2, Rocha and Kurkova both left in order to further pursue their modelling careers, and were replaced by Sport Illustrated star, Anne Vyalitsyna and 2008 model of the year, Lydia Hearst-Shaw.
The Face U.K.'s first season featured Producer, and worldwide head judge of the franchise, Naomi Campbell, muse of Alexander McQueen Erin O'Connor and Victoria's Secret Angel Caroline Winberg. During the show, Team Caroline won 3 consecutive campaigns in the first 3 weeks with Nadine Mendes earning an additional solo campaign win in the penultimate week, and Team Naomi won two campaigns. Similar to that of the first U.S. version, one team, Team Erin, did not win any campaigns. Naomi Campbell won the first season with Emma Holmes.
For the first season, the supermodel judges include executive producer of The Face Naomi Campbell, the face of Just Jeans Cheyenne Tozzi and former Make Me A Supermodel mentor, Nicole Trunfio. During the season, Nicole became the first supermodel to be formally eliminated prior to the season finale, losing all of the campaigns and her models by week 4.
