Susan Yovan was one of the 12 finalists on Season 1 (AUS) of The Face, who was a member of Team Nicole. She quit the show in the second week after collapsing at the test shoot, and later finding out she was pregnant.
Susan currently works at Ikea in Adelaide, and is only just starting out as a model. She doesn’t have an agency, and has only done one runway show. Despite her lack of experience Susan is confident and assured in herself. She has wanted to be a model since she was a little girl, and now that she is 23 she feels that time is running out. Susan practices her walk at home every day but says she needs to work on her posing.
Susan was born in South Sudan and spent her early years in a refugee camp in Uganda. She left Sudan in 2005 and came to live with her uncle in Australia while her family remained. She is now motivated to succeed so that she can help her family and one day bring them to Australia. Her mother is worried about her modelling, but ultimately just wants her to do whatever makes her happy.
Susan says that becoming The Face would truly change her life, but she is realistic and her long-term plan is to become a nurse so that she can return to Sudan and help and work with women.
